quiet volume
A careful restoration of a late 19th-century apartment, balancing heritage architecture with contemporary clarity.

preserving the past in the presence
This renovation focused on protecting the apartment’s original architectural character while adapting it for modern living. Historic moldings, timber floors, and proportions were restored rather than replaced. New interventions were introduced with restraint, allowing past and present to coexist naturally.

“A careful balance between heritage and modern clarity, where history remains visible yet quietly renewed.”
design approach
We worked within the existing layout, refining circulation and light without altering the structural logic of the space. Custom joinery was integrated subtly to maintain visual calm. The intervention prioritizes balance over contrast.
material & craft
Original oak flooring was preserved and refinished, setting the tonal foundation. New materials — natural stone, brushed brass, and soft textiles — were selected for longevity and quiet depth. Craftsmanship focused on precision and tactile quality.
spatial experience
The space feels composed and intuitive, with smooth transitions between social and private areas. Daylight shapes the atmosphere throughout the day. The result is calm, grounded, and timeless.
